Unpredictable weather .... Are You mad??

Weather Conditions

Due to the diverse weather changes that can occur in the Highlands of Scotland, we must impress upon each potential competitor the importance of knowing what you are letting yourself in for (Meteorologically speaking).

During the month of August the climate can be anywhere from very hot to extremely cold and anywhere in between. It can change from hot to cold (with a very high wind-chill factor) and back again in the space of one hour so please carry the correct equipment for all occasions.

Rainfall can be a problem as it provides poor visibility. Water filling up crevices between rocks on the ground can also be treacherous as it can cause you to lose your footing. And then of course we have the potential for deep mist. (hence the map and compass)

Basically it is in the lap of the gods whether we have a glorious sunny day or otherwise, but as long as you keep putting one foot in front of the other you should get to Fort William in the end.
